For decades, Veterans Memorial Veterans Memorial Stadium in Kansas City has been a place of honor, faith and remembrance for Gold Star Families. It’s the place where the children of America’s fallen heroes learn to say ‘thank you’ to soldiers and express gratitude to God for the freedoms we enjoy today.

But recently, the City of Kansas City has taken this sacred land and transformed it into an entertainment arena that literally puts the “fun” in ‘adults only.’

I had the opportunity to interview Glenn Broad, President of VA Support Group KC, for my radio show. Glenn told me a group of Godly parents took it upon themselves to protect the integrity of Veterans Memorial Stadium and to visit the Mayor’s office and ask that he save the stadium’s history to be preserved for generations to come. The Mayor responded that only veteran groups that have reservations would be allowed into the stadium because the residents of Kansas City were outraged by the owners of the land who were planning to sell the land.

The voices of Godly Kansas City citizens were heard loud and clear and the folks at VA Support Group KC stepped in. The Mayor and his staff heard their pleas and withdrew the sale of the land.

As Glenn explained, the issue is one of religion. While the ceremony is now held on Memorial Day at 10:30am, Church services take place during that time. On one hand, there is no time limit placed on the service time. On the other hand, while the ceremony is live broadcast on FOX 4 News, the services which are live broadcast would be removed if the owner wanted to close the stadium down for some entertainment.

If the soccer team, MLS, is sold and the name is used for another entity, then it will come as no surprise that those services, especially the prayer service, would be shut down. The Godly parents of Godly Kansas City, Glenn and his wife, Tammy, remind us that those services are sacred by God and must be protected at all costs. We may be able to purchase concessions at a sports event, but we cannot let Satan change the name of the stadium or lose the sacredness of services for America’s fallen heroes. Glenn and his wife are asking everyone to pray for Kansas City and specifically the Godly parents of Kansas City who took action. Godly residents and visitors will continue to keep the land we were honored to occupy and preserve for generations to come.
